Title: word lists for crossword compiler
Post by: Mike Doran on October 24, 2009, 09:33:21 PM
All,

On my previous computer I had a downloaded word list that contained all the entries that had appeared in the NYT and in many other noted publications. I was able to consult this list during construction using Crossword Complier and it greatly helped in the process. I want to say Matt Ginsberg created this downloadable word list but might be wrong...Does this sound familiar to anyone, or would anyone be able to point me in the direction of this word list if it is still around? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Hi, Mike -- the word list you're talking about is available to all Gold Members of Cruciverb.com.

On the home page, under the Navigate heading, click on Puzzle Database.  On the next page, click on Word Lists.  The next page gives you the links to download either the New York Times word list (nyt.txt) or the combined word list of several different puzzles, including the NYT (all.txt).  This page also gives you the instructions for using these in Crossword Compiler.
