The trombone theme was fun:
Big Southwestern trombones? TEXASLONGHORNS [the Texas teams' name, and trombones are long]
Refined trombones? POLISHEDBRASS
Continuously-playing trombones? SUSTAINEDWINDS
Too bad Tommy Dorsey, the great trombone player of the 1940's, didn't appear. There are a few six-letter words in the grid, but without recasting, I couldn't work DORSEY in.
