Title: Smaller puzzles
Post by: ktd on September 10, 2009, 10:39:25 AM
Is there any market for crosswords that are smaller than the standard newspaper size (i.e. 11x11 or 13x13)? I have some that I would consider sending to a publisher but I don't know where to look.

Hi

I don't know about in the US, but in the UK many quicker-type puzzles are 13x13.  The 'quality' cryptics however are all 15x15.

Yahoo! does a 13x13 at http://games.yahoo.com/daily-games/daily-crossword-with-yahoo-search-offsite (http://games.yahoo.com/daily-games/daily-crossword-with-yahoo-search-offsite). I recognize some constructors' names occasionally, but have no idea how they apply their puzzles. It might be an exclusive deal. Also, a lot of them are themeless (but I'll bet themed puzzles have an advantage), and one must be able to Yahoo! search a clue to find the answer. Other than these restrictions, it's worth a shot.
