Theme: Betty White, recent media phenom, on her birthday. [Sun. was MLK Day but he didn’t get a puzzle in the LAT]
Screed: I don’t get it; she’s been around for a long time, but other than that it seems she delivered one-liners written for her by “unknown” writers. I guess it’s the schtick of being a sexually driven senior citizen. It is difficult to understand, for me, why the media celebrate some and not others and what becomes fashionable. Remember hula hoops?
