Scrambled Signals

 :)
Popular tank fillers   TETRAS
Xing people?   PEDS
This and that   THESE
Dress with a flare   ALINE [not flair]
Theme: anagrams in phrases clued by other words in the grid --- seems amazingly difficult to construct since for each theme phrase Pamela had to include an appropriate anagram.
CHANGEOFHEART clued by EARTH  [and all the others were as good]

 ;)
HOLA, ETES, and ENEROS are foreign words with no particular English usage; but TEAMO was clued not with, say, “Pepe’s cooing” but by the cigar brand’s competitor, White Owl, both once very popular.  [Amazingly I still have my grandfather’s cigar boxes of both brands.]

RATING:   ;D ;D ;D Three grins = Excellent: Loved it; Two grins = Good: Enjoyed it; One grin = Satisfactory: A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Unsatisfying: No fun
