Possible Title: Jumble-aya
Theme: jumbles of “tongue twister”
Good Ones:
Speaker’s challenge {and theme} TONGUETWISTER
Head start? EGG
Tab, for one DIETCOLA
Ocean current sources? EELS
Dentistry number, familiarly NITROUS
Get into a hold STOW [I thought wrestling, yet I owned an Island Packet sailboat for years --- maybe it's the Olympics]
By the Way:
Mantle’s number SEVEN [I guess only baseball fans know that, but it’s a great memory --- thanks, Bruce]
ROSCOE Tanner is another tough one for the vast majority of solvers, but it’s also a good memory for older tennis fans. Powerful hitter --- like Mickey Mantle.
So I knew Mick’s SEVEN and ROSCOE Tanner, but not GREG of “The Brady Bunch” or Mena SUVARI, and that’s what makes Xwords fun.
Some Nits to Pick:
Los Juegos Olimpicos prize ORO [guess it’s okay to use juegos for games but not el primio for prize; and that’s what’s wrong with using any but the most common words in the most common foreign languages --- and a clue in two languages seems awkward]
NOU-turn should probably be pluralized to reflect the way signs are written.
RATING: ;D ;D ;D Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
