Mouse sound   CLICK [too old, I guess; I was trying to figure out what sound the little guy makes]

I thought crossword software programs were supposed to enable  puzzlemakers to use more unusual words and a smaller number of overused Crosswordese words. I don't know if today's crossword used such a program or if it was done by hand...but it included three partial phrases (ANO, ATA, ONOR), four slang words (BOD, BRO, PARD, RAD) and thirteen Crosswordese words (ADO, ALOT, ANTE, APE, ATE, ERR, OLE, ONE, ORO, SDS, SEA, SIT, URN).

ERASE was clued with "Correct a pencil mistake." Erasing a mistake does not correct it. Erasing it and then writing the proper word is what corrects it.
