Post by: magus on August 30, 2014, 09:12:55 AM
THEME:   none, but a quadruple spanning the center of the grid!

GOOD ONES:

Mil. trial   N TEST [I thought courtmartial]
One at the end of the line   WIDE RECEIVER [the football line of scrimmage]
Joggers of a sort   LISTS [jog memory]
Take the wrong way?   SWIPE
Net funds   E CASH [not sure I know what that is]
Hardly big shots   BBs [shots as in bullets]

BTW:
Old 442 rivals   GTOs [but there were GTO 442's aside from the Olds 442]

Jack letters   MIC [jack as in electrical outlet, not car lifter which I thought]

Time for les vacances   ETE [why is Time not also in French, and why isn't ETE clued as "Gam ending"?]

RATING:    ;D ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

I believe I've seen it in headlines, but I can't say for sure since it has been crossword fodder for eons.

I wonder how many baseball players use this natural testosterone boosting formula. It's called N-Test 600 and is definitely not to be confused with "nuclear tests."
