Title: Fri., 12/20 David J. Kahn
Post by: magus on December 20, 2013, 08:35:56 AM
THEME:   words relative to the "first" crossword puzzle, the 100th anniversary of which is tomorrow.  [I remember it well; I found some problems but over-all I liked it.]

BTW:
The Spice Girls is another all too-often referent.  See yesterday's screed for others.

Apparently DOVE appeared twice in the same 1913 puzzle, a maneuver editors no longer allow.

Flu fighter   SERUM [I read it as Fu Fighter and figured it was some Kung Fu hero about whom I knew nothing.]

… Feature of the first crossword puzzle…   THE NEW YORK WORLD [the newspaper is not the feature, the puzzle is]

Crossing SERE [as talon] with NARD beat me.

RATING: ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
