Title: Thu., 11/28 David W. Cromer
Post by: magus on November 28, 2013, 09:32:01 AM
THEME:   definitions of words sounding the same as /rite/

GOOD ONES:
Indication of freshness?   SLAP
Phone in a play, e.g.   PROP [not write a poor drama]
Rover's turf   MARS [I thought dog, of course]
Worker at home   UMP [I thought Mom]

BTW:
Sleep on it   COT and SHEET [neither noun can be defined by the verbal phrase "sleep on it" which is an imperative --- the laws of syntax forbid it --- the clue must be changed to a declarative as in the mundane "One can sleep on it"]

Happy Thanksgiving.  I'm not sure when newspapers stopped running holiday themed puzzles, but they were fun.  I suppose it is sophisticated to be iconoclastic; and if so, given all my education, where did I go wrong?

RATING: ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
