Title: Wed., 10/23 C.C. Burnikel
Post by: magus on October 23, 2013, 09:09:07 AM
THEME:   Crossing at reds

GOOD ONES:
Humanitarian symbol {& theme}   RED CROSS
Old Roman coin   LIRA [I thought ancient Rome]
Life partner?   LIMB

BTW:
"Let's hear it!"   DO TELL [only if you have a tin ear  --- the clue is an exclamation; the fill is an almost chortled request]

Up the creek   IN TROUBLE [interesting how the language evolves:  the original expresion had "...without a paddle," but no longer]

It amazes me how many uniquely clever themes constructors manage to generate; today's is one.  Easily 200 a year appear in the LAT alone.  As a solver of just one outlet's offerings (my local newspaper happened to run the LAT), I feel fortunate.

RATING: ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
