Post by: magus on October 13, 2013, 10:01:49 AM
THEME:   enjambed nations

GOOD ONES:
Shore thing   SAND
Start of something big?   MACRO
Dazzling duo in Dover?   ZEDS [two z's in "dazzling" and since it's in Dover, zee is zed]
Enjoys a few ribs?   BANTERS [ribs are jibes which are at times part of banter]
Penny or passing follower   LANE ["Penny Lane" is a Beatles song]

BTW:
Family nickname   MOMMA [it's her name in the family --- hardly a nickname]

Dyeing occasion   EASTER [oddly it's also an occasion of life   ;) ]

"___ of Love": 1989 film   SEA [but I bet it's better known from the song from which the title of the film comes]

Stops at the Sorbonne?   ARRETS [so any foreign word that is needed to complete the grid is okay --- why not echarse de reir?]

I really did not enjoy the fusing of two countries as a theme, but I don't know why.  Maybe I'm a xenophobe after all.

RATING:    ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
