Legend with rackets   ASHE [ Arthur was a fine gentleman [met him for lunch once], articulate, and an excellent tennis player, but he was not a legend.  He won just three slam events.  That he was the only Negro besides Yannick Noah to have done so should and does not make him legendary --- as he would be the first to admit.
