Title: Mon., 2/18 Dan Schoenholz
Post by: magus on February 18, 2013, 09:19:22 AM
THEME:   Presidents' surnames that serve as first names of famous people  --- most clever and appropriate on this day

GOOD ONES:
Jackson   ANDREWORBROWNE [in incongruous coupling which may never have occurred before today]
Word with popper or dropper   EYE [like the rhyme]

BTW:
Went off the high board   DOVE [When I was in grammar school (that's what it was called), "dived" was the only acceptable past tense of "dive."  I suspect once the automobile age came, "drive" became used so much, along with its past tense "drove," that common usage changed.  Webster's Third may have given "dove" legitimacy.]

I've seen "scads" scads of times,  but I can't recall ever having seen "scad," which means the same.  Sounds more likely to be used "a scad" in England.

RATING: ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
