BTW:
Went off the high board DOVE [When I was in grammar school (that's what it was called), "dived" was the only acceptable past tense of "dive." I suspect once the automobile age came, "drive" became used so much, along with its past tense "drove," that common usage changed. Webster's Third may have given "dove" legitimacy.]
I've seen "scads" scads of times, but I can't recall ever having seen "scad," which means the same. Sounds more likely to be used "a scad" in England.
